Last Updated: 18 April 2025  |  Effective Date: 18 April 2025

Please read these terms carefully before using this website or engaging Pelita Adil for any services. By accessing this website or proceeding with an enquiry, you confirm that you have read and understood these terms. If anything is unclear, we encourage you to contact us before proceeding.

1. About Pelita Adil

Pelita Adil is a family law advisory firm operating in Malaysia. Our principal place of business is Suite 22A, Jalan Lim Lean Teng, 11600 Penang, Malaysia. References to "we", "our", or "the firm" in these terms refer to Pelita Adil. References to "you" or "the client" refer to any person who visits this website, submits an enquiry, or enters into an engagement with the firm.

2. Use of This Website

This website is provided for informational purposes. The content here describes our services and provides general background on family law matters in Malaysia. It does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as such.

3. Information on This Website Is Not Legal Advice

All content published on this website — including descriptions of services, summaries of Malaysian law, and any articles or guides — is for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute legal advice and does not create a solicitor-client relationship between you and Pelita Adil.

Every family matter is shaped by its own facts. We encourage you to contact us directly so that we may understand your particular circumstances before offering any guidance relevant to your situation.

4. Our Services

Pelita Adil offers family law advisory and legal services as described on this website, subject to the terms of an individual engagement agreed with each client. Our current service offerings include:

All fees are stated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are inclusive of our professional fees for the scope described. Disbursements — such as court filing fees, stamp duty, or third-party charges — are additional and will be disclosed before they are incurred. We do not apply hidden charges.

5. Engagement and Payment

A formal engagement only commences once we have exchanged written confirmation of the scope of work and the applicable fee. Completing a contact form or making an enquiry through this website does not create a client relationship or any obligation on either party.

Payment arrangements are confirmed at the commencement of each engagement and detailed in our engagement letter. We accept payment by bank transfer to our client account. All client monies are held in accordance with Malaysian legal professional rules.

6. Conflicts of Interest

Before commencing any engagement, we carry out a conflict-of-interest check. If a conflict exists or arises during the course of an engagement, we will inform you promptly and explain the implications. Where a conflict cannot be managed appropriately, we will assist in facilitating a referral to another firm.

7. Confidentiality and Legal Professional Privilege

All communications between you and Pelita Adil in the course of a legal engagement are protected by legal professional privilege under Malaysian law. We do not disclose confidential client information to third parties except where required by law, with your written consent, or as necessary to conduct your matter (for example, in correspondence with the court or the other party's solicitors).

Please note that enquiries made through this website before a formal engagement is established do not attract legal professional privilege, though we treat all pre-engagement communications with discretion.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, Pelita Adil's liability for any loss arising from the use of this website or from the provision of legal services is limited to the professional fees paid by you in the relevant engagement. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or speculative losses.

We carry professional indemnity insurance in accordance with the requirements applicable to legal practitioners in Malaysia.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Third-Party Websites

This website may contain links to external websites for reference. We do not endorse, control, or take responsibility for the content or practices of any external site. Visiting a linked site is at your own discretion and subject to that site's own terms and policies.

10. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, layout, and graphic elements — is the property of Pelita Adil or its licensors and is protected under Malaysian copyright law. You may not copy, reproduce, or adapt any content without written permission, except for personal, non-commercial reference use.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the website after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
