How Pelita Adil Came to Be
The firm opened its doors in Georgetown, Penang, after years of observing how many people arrived at lawyers' offices already exhausted — by their circumstances, by the cost of counsel, and by the difficulty of understanding what was being done on their behalf. The founder, who spent the better part of a decade handling family matters at larger firms, saw a need for something quieter and more deliberate.
Pelita Adil — which translates loosely as "fair light" — was named as a statement of intent. Not a lamp that blazes and overwhelms, but one that provides enough illumination to see clearly. The firm handles spousal maintenance discussions, divorce proceedings by mutual consent, and comprehensive family affairs planning. These three areas reflect a considered decision to work deeply rather than broadly.
We operate from Suite 22A on Jalan Lim Lean Teng, a short walk from the old part of Georgetown. The address was chosen for its accessibility by public transport — because we recognise that clients coming to us are not always at their most resourceful, and that ease of arrival matters.

Called to the Malaysian Bar over twelve years ago, Nurul Ain has spent her practice focused on family and matrimonial law. She leads all client advisory sessions personally.

Rajan handles court filings, matrimonial asset documentation, and the coordination of matters involving EPF, property titles, and wills. He brings a methodical steadiness to every file.

Li Yen is usually the first voice clients hear. She coordinates appointments, manages correspondence, and ensures that no client is left waiting for a response longer than one working day.

Written Engagement Terms
Before any work begins, clients receive a written engagement letter setting out scope, fees, and the basis of our retainer. Nothing proceeds on a verbal understanding alone.
Conflict of Interest Checks
Every new enquiry is checked against our existing client list before a file is opened. We will not act if there is any possibility of conflicting duties.
Responsive Communication
Clients receive a substantive response to correspondence within one working day. We do not leave enquiries unanswered for more than 24 hours during business days.
Personal Data Protection
We comply fully with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia). Client data is collected only as necessary and handled with care throughout the engagement and after it concludes.
